With reference to my predecessor's
Despatch No. 47 of the 31st. January, 1902, and to my
Despatch No. 368 of the 30th. of last November, I have the
honour to transmit to Your Lordship a plan prepared by the
Acting Director of Public Works which shows in green the
area already laid out as a garden by the Hongkong and Shan-
-ghal Banking Corporation in which stand the recently un-
-veiled statues of Her Majesty the Queen and Her Royal
Highness the Princess of Wales and in blue a corresponding
area of 31,802 Square Feet in which stand the statues of
His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Prince of
Wales. In the centre of the square is a statue of Her late
Majesty Queen Victoria.
2.
I have now to request Your Lord-
-ship's permission to lay out the area marked blue, which
belongs to this Government as a Public Garden, in order
that
